A whole school approach

To date research and experience overwhelmingly demonstrate that restorative approaches are most successful when introduced as part of a long-term vision and strategy.

Watch extracts from a DVD made with North Manchester schools and hear what a Safer Schools Police Officer has to say about his experience of being involved in a restorative meeting and a Year Head explain how he uses restorative approaches on a daily basis to resolve conflicts between pupils and between staff and pupils.

  • ½ and 1 day introductory sessions tailored to cater for larger groups of staff or a whole staff INSET.
  • 3 day intensive Restorative Conferencing programme – an indepth experience which equips participants with the skills and confidence to prepare for and facilitate restorative meetings from low level conflict to more serious situations of wrongdoing.

“The best course I’ve attended, with the right mix of practical and theoretical activities; and from a determined ‘no role play’ participant!”
Brenda Fraser, Inclusion Manager, North Manchester High School for Boys

  • ½ to 1 day increasing opportunities session designed to offer targeted support for embedding new structures within the school for those who have undergone the 3 day training programme.
